Hope you had a great day Mom (Grandma from Harper)!! We wish we could have spent the day with you enjoying the dinner, but glad that you got to eat the fish we sent from Alaska. :)
We had a super nice and sunny day in Anchorage, although we could have done without the biting wind. Dan did a ski skate - skate ski duathlon in Midtown so Harper and I went along to be his cheering squad...a lot of good we did since we couldn't even stay outside of the car for his entire race! We stayed out as long as we could, but the wind was just too cold. The sun was nice though...just like an old friend we haven't seen for what feels like decades (at least to me)!

Christmas morning 2009We had a wonderfully quiet Christmas morning at home with just us, and went to a friend's house for a big Christmas dinner with their family. It was a lot of fun and so nice just to relax for a little while. Santa was super good to Harper (as we predicted) and pretty good to us too.

She seemed to love the rocking horse in the beginning...it took almost another two weeks for us to get her back on the horse without her crying!

Christmas Eve we took a walk up to the Alaska Zoo to visit my all time favorite lighted tree...the photo is the best one we got but it still doesn't do the tree justice. It is beautiful!!
Harper practicing opening presents with friend Van at school - we had a pre-Christmas luncheon with the infants and they gave us handmade presents, all wrapped up. Harper couldn't wait to open her present to us :)I was able to get a couple days off from work over the holidays, while Dan slaved away most of them. It doesn't look like we'll get a break anytime soon either...both our schedules are full. Winter is the busiest time of year for Dan's job, and I have a bunch of tight deadlines to meet before the end of June. I'm hoping to sneak away to some sunshine and warmth later this month, but it might have to wait until March.
For now though, here are a few photos from our December deep freeze (we had some awesome ice fog for a few days).
